KNOXVILLE – After winning two of three and taking the series from No. 4 Texas, Tennessee baseball has climbed from the 3 seed line to a projected 2 seed in D1Baseball’s latest NCAA Tournament Field of 64. The Vols are slotted in the Atlanta Regional with No. 2 overall seed Georgia Tech.
D1Baseball’s projection places Tennessee opposite of No. 3 seed Tarleton in the opening game of the regional, while No. 4 seed Oral Roberts would face the Yellow Jackets. The last time Tennessee and Georgia Tech met in the postseason came in 2022 when the Vols erased a four-run deficit and defeated the Yellow Jackets 9-6 to advance to the Super Regionals.
If the Vols were to advance out of Atlanta, D1Baseball projects a Super Regional matchup with the winner of the Lawrence Regional. That field includes Kansas, Nebraska, Missouri State, and SIU Edwardsville, setting up a potential midwest showdown for a spot in Omaha.
Tennessee shifts its focus back to Lindsey Nelson Stadium tonight for the final home game of the 2026 season as the Vols welcome Belmont with first pitch set for 5 p.m. ET on SEC Network Plus. After wrapping things up in Knoxville, the Vols head west to Norman for a three-game series with Oklahoma beginning Friday to close out the regular season.
