It’s about damn time AC got the recognition he deserves.
Vols linebacker Arion Carter has been named the SEC Defensive Player of the Week after posting a career-best performance in Tennessee’s dramatic 41-34 overtime win at Mississippi State, the conference announced Monday.
Carter was EVERYWHERE for the UT defense, flying around the field and finishing with a career-best 17 tackles to anchor the Tennessee defense.
His biggest play came in overtime, when Carter broke up a fourth-down pass at the goal line to secure the victory for the Vols.
Through five games, the Smyrna, Tenn., native has 49 total tackles–eighth most in the country– and has established himself as one of the most consistent playmakers on Tim Banks’ defense.
This marks Carter’s first SEC weekly honor and highlights his emergence as a leader on Tennessee’s defense.
