It has been confirmed today that Tennessee has the most talented college baseball team in the country, at least when it comes to pro potential.
Seven current Vol Baseball players have been tabbed as some of the best major league prospects, according to one of baseball’s most knowledgeable experts.
Keith Law from The Athletic has released his Big Board for 2025, ranking the top 100 prospects in this year’s MLB Draft class.
“This is how I would rank the players if I were working for a team, ignoring any questions about signability/bonus demands, and of course acknowledging that there may be medical or other information about players that I don’t have,” Law wrote.
“I use my own scouting looks as one input, along with opinions from actual scouts and analysts, video and data.”
Law acknowledged that while this class may be somewhat “weak” at the very top, it’s got a lot of depth on down the list.
So maybe this year’s No. 1 isn’t as good as a usual No. 1 but No. 71 may be better than the usual No. 71.
You may not be surprised to learn that Tennessee has more names in the Top 100 than any other school.
This year’s team, like most of Tony Vitello’s teams, is loaded with talent.
Here’s how Law ranked the Vols:
No. 2: Liam Doyle
No. 6: Gavin Kilen
No. 28: Dean Curley
No. 53: Andrew Fischer
No. 57: AJ Russell
No. 88: Dalton Bargo
No. 97: Marcus Phillips
