Danny White has been named Athletic Director of the Year by Sports Business Journal.
He is the first UT AD to receive this award, per a UTSports.com release.
White received the prestigious accolade in New York City on Wednesday.
Since arriving at UT in 2021, White has helped revitalize Tennessee Athletics in a big way.
Now known as “America’s College Sports City,” Knoxville has seen its local teams accomplish plenty of feats in the White tenure.
In 2023-24, Tennessee Athletics achieved its best year ever with ALL of its teams qualifying for postseason play.
That was the first time UT history that this has occurred, per the release.
Tennessee has won three consecutive SEC All-Sports trophies. Before White arrived, it hadn’t won one.
“Receiving an accolade like this feels like winning the Athletic Department of the Year award,” White said. “This recognition highlights the success we have achieved on Rocky Top, and I would like to express my appreciation to everyone in our department for always giving their all for Tennessee.”
It’s important to remember what a hell of a job Danny White has done at Tennessee. It’s unprecedented.
Even if UT does end up switching its apparel rights from Nike to Adidas.
