Tennessee Baseball will start ace pitcher Liam Doyle on the mound this afternoon against Texas.

Doyle is coming off a lackluster performance last weekend vs. Arkansas, but he’s been otherwise outstanding this season.

Earlier this week he was named SEC Pitcher of the Year.

Doyle leads the country with 137 strikeouts. He also boasts a 2.72 ERA and a nation-leading 0.92 WHIP.

Batters have hit just .171 against him.

So how will the Vols’ ace fare this afternoon against the top-seeded Longhorns?

A stat posted on X by a Texas insider suggests Doyle may fare quite well.

The Vols’ “lights out” pitcher has struck out 44 percent of batters faced in 2025.

Texas, meanwhile, has been cold at the plate lately:

Tennessee is the betting favorite to advance to the SEC Tournament semifinals despite Texas being the conference’s regular season champion.

The Vols, an 8-seed in the tourney, are a -190 favorite to win according to VIP Play.

First pitch in Hoover is at 4 p.m. ET on the SEC Network.

Today’s winner will face either Oklahoma or Vanderbilt on Saturday.
