Sorry, Titans fans.
Hendon Hooker is heading to Charlotte after signing with the Carolina Panthers’ practice squad on Wednesday afternoon, per The Charlotte Observer’s Mike Kaye.
The move comes just one day after Hooker was released by the Detroit Lions during final roster cuts with head coach Dan Campbell suggesting that Hooker needed a change of scenery.
Hooker, the No. 68 overall pick in the 2023 draft, spent two seasons in Detroit and appeared in just three career regular season games for the club, making his debut against the Dallas Cowboys during the 2024 season.
This preseason, Hooker struggled mightily, throwing for just 178 yards across four games with zero touchdowns and three interceptions.
With Kyle Allen clearly outplaying Hooker in the preseason, throwing for 401 yards, five touchdowns and two interceptions– it was apparent the veteran would secure the backup role behind Jared Goff.
Now joining a QB room with Bryce Young and Andy Dalton, Hooker will serve as Carolina’s QB3 and has a legitimate chance of being elevated to the 53-man roster, especially if injuries or inconsistency again this season from Bryce Young force the Panthers to restructure their depth chart.
