Before today Tennessee had two pitchers in program history that were named SEC Pitcher of the Year — Luke Hochevar in 2005 and Chase Dollander in 2022.
Now they have a third.
Liam Doyle has been awarded with the conference’s top pitcher distinction after an outstanding season on the mound.
Doyle leads the country with 137 strikeouts. He also boasts a 2.72 ERA and a nation-leading 0.92 WHIP.
Batters have hit just .171 against him.
In addition to the POTY honor, Doyle is also All-SEC First Team.
Andrew Fischer and Gavin Kilen join him on the SEC’s first team, while teammate Hunter Ensley made All-SEC Second Team and the SEC All-Defensive Team.
Tennessee's three first-team selections were the second most in the league behind Arkansas, per a UTSports.com release.
