Tennessee redshirt freshman Braylon Staley has finally earned national media recognition for his breakout season, landing on the Biletnikoff Award watch list, the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation announced Wednesday morning.
The Biletnikoff Award honors college football’s most outstanding receiver, and Staley’s production through nine games has made him an obvious choice.
He’s started every game for the Vols this season, racking up 703 receiving yards, fourth-most in the SEC, along with 52 receptions and five touchdowns.
Staley trails only Mississippi State’s Brenen Thompson, Texas A&M’s Mario Craver, and Tennessee teammate Chris Brazzell, who leads the conference with 808 receiving yards.
Brazzell also appears on the Biletnikoff watch list, giving Tennessee two receivers with a chance to win the prestigious award.
Staley’s biggest performance came against Arkansas, where he posted a career-high 109 yards on six catches, earning SEC Freshman of the Week honors.
With three regular season games remaining against New Mexico State, Florida, and Vandy, Staley has a chance to climb even higher in the SEC rankings.
