One of the top uncommitted defensive prospects in the 2026 cycle is down to four and the Vols remain in the hunt.

Four-star edge rusher Jordan Carter out of Douglas County High in Douglasville, Georgia, dropped his top four schools Wednesday afternoon, with the Volunteers making the cut alongside Texas, Georgia Tech, and Auburn, per Rivals’ Hayes Fawcett.

The 6-foot-3 Carter ranks as the No. 120 overall player in the country and a top-15 prospect in the state of Georgia.

Carter originally committed to Texas A&M in Oct. 2024 but reopened his recruitment on Nov. 1. Tennessee quickly established itself as a serious contender, and Carter is scheduled to visit Knoxville the weekend of Nov. 15 for the Vols’ matchup with New Mexico State.

He’ll follow that with visits to Georgia Tech on Nov. 22 for their game against Pitt and Auburn on Nov. 29 when the Tigers host Alabama in the Iron Bowl. His visit to Texas is still being finalized.

“I enjoy knowing that Tennessee will always have an amazing defense,” Carter told Rivals. “With having one of the best defenses in the SEC, I’ll be able to be coached by one of the best line coaches in CFB history.”

Carter’s praise for Tennessee’s defense and coaching staff bodes well for the Vols, who continue to build momentum in the 2026 cycle.
