KNOXVILLE – Tennessee has officially parted ways with Penn State transfer EDGE Chaz Coleman on Friday morning, according to reports from Pete Nakos and Chris Low of On3. Coleman, ranked as the No. 9 overall player in the Rivals Industry Transfer Portal rankings, followed former Penn State defensive coordinator Jim Knowles to Rocky Top this offseason.

The sophomore logged 8 tackles, 3 tackles for loss and a strip sack last season for the Nittany Lions.

“Chaz has been dealing with some things, and we are here to support him,” Josh Heupel told On3 in May at the SEC spring meetings. “We will continue to go through that process.” Tennessee and Coleman ultimately did not continue through that process.

“The pass rusher was absent from summer workouts last week before resurfacing in Knoxville on Friday,” Nakos reported. “He has been medically disqualified from the Volunteers’ roster.”
