The Volunteers added another foundational piece to their 2027 class Wednesday night.
Three-star athlete Kamauri Whitfield out of Orlando, Fla., announced his commitment to Tennessee on social media, becoming the second pledge in the 2027 cycle alongside linebacker JP Peace.
Whitfield, ranked No. 425 nationally and a top-50 prospect in the state of Florida, chose the Vols over Penn State, Florida, and UCF.
The 5-foot-10, 170-pounder is being recruited as a defensive back by Tennessee, with cornerbacks coach Willie Martinez leading the charge in his recruitment.
Whitfield made the trip to Knoxville this past weekend for an unofficial visit, taking in UT’s 34-31 win over Arkansas in Neyland Stadium.
Known for his speed and length in coverage, Whitfield projects as a versatile piece in Tennessee’s secondary. His athleticism gives the Vols flexibility in how they deploy him – whether outside, in nickel packages, or even as a return specialist down the line.
Expect Tennessee’s staff to stay aggressive as the cycle unfolds, especially in Florida, Georgia, and the Carolinas.
