The Crimson Tide’s starting running back’s status is in question for Saturday.
Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer provided an update to reporters Wednesday on senior tailback Jam Miller after he suffered a concussion in last weekend’s win over Missouri.
“I think Jam’s in probably what we’d put in a questionable state for the weekend when it comes to the report tonight,” DeBoer said. “That’s kind of where I see it right now.”
Miller exited the game in the fourth quarter and did not return last week.
Despite missing the first three games of the season with a collarbone injury, Miller has quickly reclaimed his role himself as the Crimson Tide’s bellcow.
In his three games this year, he’s totaled 267 rushing yards and one touchdown, along with eight receptions for 52 yards.
His defining moment came against Vandy, where he tallied 136 yards and a score in Bama’s 30-14 win.
The Vols defense allows an average of 136 rushing yards per game, the exact total Miller posted two weeks ago.
If cleared, Miller’s downhill running style could pose problems for Tennessee’s front.
If not, expect Richard Young and redshirt freshman Kevin Riley to see increased touches in the backfield.
Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET Saturday at Bryant-Denny Stadium, with the game airing on ABC.
