Tennessee could be set to have its breakout forward back in action for the Player’s Era Tournament.
Ryan Schumpert of RockyTopInsider was the first to report that JP Estrella, who suffered a knee injury against Rice last Monday, is expected to be “available” for the Vols.
Estrella was diagnosed with a bone bruise following the game, but the setback appears minor as Tennessee prepares for Rutgers on Monday afternoon.
Estrella has been one of the Vols’ top performers through the opening stretch of the season.
The Scarborough, Maine native is averaging 14.7 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 1.0 assists per game, quickly establishing himself as Tennessee’s most reliable forward.
The redshirt sophomore has raised his career-high in scoring in each of the Vols’ first three contests, including a 23 point, 10 rebound showing against North Florida.
Tennessee will face Rutgers in the first round of the Player’s Era Tournament at 1 p.m. ET on TNT.
