There’s nothing better than an 11 a.m. local kick between two top-15 teams.
The mimosa’s and bloody mary’s will be in full swing Saturday morning in Norman.
No. 8 Ole Miss travels to Norman to face No. 13 Oklahoma in a matchup that will shake up the conference race and could have an impact on Tennessee’s path to Atlanta.
FanRun will be there, boots on the ground, as both teams are coming off very different weeks.
Ole Miss dropped its first game of the season in Athens, falling 43-35 to Georgia in a shootout.
Oklahoma, meanwhile, bounced back from its Red River disaster with a 26-7 win over South Carolina in Columbia.
I was at the Cotton Bowl two weeks ago, and let’s be blunt– John Mateer looked GOD awful.
Seventeen days removed from thumb surgery, he threw three picks and looked completely out of sync as the Sooners suffered their first loss.
They’re back at home as 5.5 point favorites and Tennessee fans should be paying attention.
The Vols host Oklahoma on Nov. 1 in Knoxville.
If the Sooners pick up a big top-10 win this weekend, it helps Tennessee’s positioning and playoff optics.
So yes, as much as I despise Oklahoma, I’ll be rooting for them, for Tennessee’s sake.
Ole Miss will once again start Trinidad Chambliss at quarterback, per On3’s Pete Nakos.
Chambliss has quietly been one of the most efficient QBs in the conference, throwing for 1,549 yards, eight touchdowns, and just one interception, while adding five scores on the ground.
He’ll need every bit of that dual-threat ability against an Oklahoma defense that’s been downright suffocating.
The Sooners allow just 9.4 points per game, second-best in the country behind Ohio State. They lead the nation in sacks with 28 and have only allowed six touchdowns all season.
Pretty damn elite, if I say so.
Kickoff is set for 11 a.m. local time on ABC.
