BROOKLYN – Tennessee freshman forward Nate Ament was selected with the No. 13 pick in the 2026 NBA Draft by the Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday night in Brooklyn, becoming the first Volunteer taken in the lottery since Marcus Haislip also went No. 13 to the Milwaukee Bucks in 2002.

Ament, a native of Manassas (VA), arrived at Tennessee as the highest‑rated recruit in program history, ranked No. 4 nationally in the 2025 class by the 247Sports Composite. He averaged 16.7 points during his lone season on Rocky Top and tied for the team lead with 6.3 rebounds per game. The Second Team All SEC selection collected 6 SEC Freshman of the Week awards while emerging as one of the most versatile scoring bigs in this draft cycle.

Ament now joins a re-hauled Milwaukee roster that made national headlines late Monday after trading franchise cornerstone Giannis Antetokounmpo and forward Bobby Portis to the Miami Heat in exchange for Tyler Herro, Jaime Jaquez, Kel’el Ware, Kasparas Jakucionis, 3 first round picks including No. 13, 1 pick swap and 1 second rounder.
