KNOXVILLE – Tennessee added its sixth transfer portal commitment Wednesday afternoon, landing and signing Louisville right-hander Parker Detmers, Pete Nakos of On3 first reported. The Chatham (Ill.) native, and brother of Los Angeles Angels ace Reid Detmers, becomes the latest arm to join Josh Elander’s staff.
Detmers missed the entire 2026 season while recovering from Tommy John surgery after suffering an arm injury during his sophomore season in 2025. He is eligible for next month’s MLB Draft but does not pose a threat to sign professionally.
Detmers attended Glenwood High School in Illinois, the same program that produced Tennessee freshman left-hander Cam Appenzeller, with the two now reuniting on Rocky Top.
Across two seasons at Louisville, Detmers posted a 3-2 record with a 5.71 ERA, appearing in 18 career games and starting 6. He struck out 32 batters in 34.2 innings while issuing 18 walks.
Listed at 6-foot-4 and 250 pounds, Detmers becomes the second right-handed pitcher to commit to Tennessee through the portal this offseason, joining Mercer two-way transfer Braydon Kersey.
