KNOXVILLE – South Carolina transfer left‑hander Jake McCoy will make his way to Rocky Top after being selected with the 552nd pick in the 18th round of the MLB Draft by the Toronto Blue Jays, he announced on social media. The Fort Mill (SC) native missed the entire 2026 season while recovering from Tommy John surgery following an offseason injury.

As a sophomore in 2025, McCoy posted a 4‑5 record with a 6.90 ERA across 14 appearances, all starts, in the Gamecocks’ weekend rotation. He struck out 77 batters in 60 innings while issuing 40 walks.

With McCoy officially heading to campus, Tennessee has now secured all seven of its draft‑eligible transfer portal additions. That group includes Wright State outfielder Andrew Duncan, who was selected with the 558th pick in the 19th round by the Pittsburgh Pirates on Sunday.
