KNOXVILLE – After initially announcing his return for his junior season, sophomore right-hander Nic Abraham is now entering the NCAA transfer portal after two years on Rocky Top, per Mike Wilson of VolQuest.

Abraham took on a much larger workload from his freshman to sophomore campaign. He appeared in 16 games in 2026, starting 3, while posting a 2-0 record and a 4.15 ERA. The Elk Grove (Calif.) native struck out 20 batters in 34.2 innings and emerged as a consistent bullpen option for Tennessee.

His best outing as a Vol came in the final home game of the 2026 season. Abraham started against Belmont in the last midweek matchup of the year and delivered 5.2 innings with just 1 earned run allowed, striking out 4 without issuing a walk.

Listed at 6-foot-5 and 218 pounds, Abraham becomes the 15th Volunteer to enter the transfer portal, joining infielders Ethan Moore, Ariel Antigua, Finley Bates, and Manny Marin; outfielders Jay Abernathy, Hutson Chance, and Nate Eisfelder; utility players Chris Newstrom and Hunter High; pitchers Brayden Krenzel, Ari Bethea, and Taylor Tracey; first baseman/left-hander Evan Hankins; and catcher/outfielder Cash Williams.
