Tennessee football lost a key piece to its 2026 class on Friday as four-star tight end Carson Sneed revealed his decision to flip his commitment from the Vols to North Carolina, per Rivals’ Hayes Fawcett.
The Nashville native from Donelson Christian Academy had been committed to the Volunteers for nearly a year, having announced his pledge to UT in early August of 2024.
Ranked No. 18 nationally among tight ends and No. 404 overall in the country, Sneed hauled in 33 receptions for 409 yards and six touchdowns over eleven games in 2024.
The 6-foot-6, 250-pounder reunites with his older brother, Dayton Sneed, who transferred to North Carolina earlier this year after spending two seasons in Knoxville as a walk-on wide receiver.
Sneed’s flip to the Tar Heels marks a major recruiting win for head coach Bill Belichick and North Carolina, which now features a staggering 34 prospects committed in the 2026 cycle, bolstering one of the most impressive classes in the ACC.
