After missing on Knoxville native four-star Jarrell Chandler earlier Monday, Tennessee bounced back in the evening by landing in-state three-star cornerback Slim Leavell over Florida and Clemson, according to Rivals’ Hayes Fawcett.

Leavell, a native of Madison who plays at Goodpasture Christian School, is ranked the No. 604 overall prospect in the 2027 class and a top 30 player in Tennessee per the 247Sports Composite. Listed at 6-foot-2, 170 pounds, Leavell was a two-way standout as a junior, finishing with 35 catches for 735 yards at 21.0 yards per catch and 12 touchdowns while adding 4 interceptions on defense across 11 games.

Scheduled to officially visit Rocky Top this weekend, Leavell becomes the eighth commitment in Tennessee’s 2027 class and the third secondary pledge, joining in-state defensive back Jaden Butler and Georgia three-star cornerback Carter Jamison.
