Tony Vitello scored a big win in the transfer portal Wednesday evening as Tennessee landed Duke left-handed pitcher Mark Hindy– adding an experienced and much-needed lefty arm to the bullpen.
The 6-foot-4, 220-pound graduate student appeared in 26 games in his lone season for the Blue Devils, posting a 4.66 ERA with 38 strikeouts and 15 walks over 29 innings of relief.
Before transferring to Duke, Hindy spent three seasons at William & Mary University, where in 2024 the southpaw put up a 3.75 ERA with 73 strikeouts and 20 walks across 60 innings pitched.
Though injuries sidelined him for the entire 2023 season, and limited to just one game in 2022, Hindy emerged to be an important piece in Duke’s bullpen, which came within one win of reaching Omaha this past season.
With his commitment, Hindy becomes the seventh pitcher this transfer portal cycle to commit to Vitello and his staff, joining an elite group of arms that includes Landon Mack, Evan Blanco, Brady Frederick, and Clay Edmondson.
With UT approaching the No. 1 transfer portal class nationally, trailing only Mississippi State, the Volunteers continue to prove they will be competing atop the SEC in 2026.
