How about some recognition for Tennessee’s badass punter?

Tennessee punter Jackson Ross has been named a semifinalist for the Ray Guy Award on Friday afternoon, which honors the nation’s top collegiate punter each season.

A redshirt junior from Melbourne, Australia, has been a consistent special teams weapon for the Volunteers.

Known to be ambidextrous, Ross ranks second in the SEC and tied for 11th nationally with 16 punts downed inside the 20-yard line this season.

His career average of 43.4 yards per punt places him third all-time in Tennessee history.

Ross joins a competitive semifinalist field that includes Georgia’s Brett Thorson, New Mexico’s Daniel Hughes, Temple’s Dante Atton, Troy’s Evan Crenshaw, Notre Dame’s James Rendell, Air Force’s Luke Freer, Vanderbilt’s Nick Haberer, Baylor’s Palmer Williams, and Iowa State’s Tyler Perkins.

The Ray Guy Award winner will be announced at the College Football Award Show on Dec. 12.
