KNOXVILLE – Henderson is headed back to Rocky Top.

Tennessee freshman guard Troy Henderson announced Wednesday that he is withdrawing his name from the transfer portal and returning to Knoxville, one day after signaling his intentions to explore options elsewhere.

Henderson, a Richmond native, and a former commit of Richmond, played sparingly during his freshman season. He appeared in 28 games, averaging 1.8 points and 1.0 assists with his best outing coming in December when he scored a career‑high 9 points against Gardner‑Webb, knocking down 3 of 5 attempts from beyond the arc.

With fellow freshman guards Amari Evans and Clarence Massamba entering the transfer portal, retaining the 6‑foot‑1 Henderson is significant for Rick Barnes and Co. as they look to reshape their backcourt depth heading into the transfer portal cycle.
