KNOXVILLE – A seventh Volunteer is going portaling.
Tennessee guard Amari Evans announced his intentions to enter the transfer portal after his freshman campaign on Rocky Top, Evans helped lead the Vols to its third-straight Elite Appearance coming off the bench.
Evans, a Pittsburgh native who played his senior year with Overtime Elite, appeared in 35 games during his lone season in Knoxville. He made two starts and averaged 4.1 points and 3.2 rebounds in 14.4 minutes per game. His best performance came in the Vols 86-82 home loss to Vanderbilt, where he scored a career-high 24 points on 9-for-18 shooting.
The 6‑foot‑5, 220‑pound Evans becomes the third Volunteer freshman guard to hit the transfer portal this offseason, joining Clarence Massamba and Troy Henderson as Rick Barnes and Co. look to reshape their backcourt as portal season is officially in full swing.
