KNOXVILLE – After taking an official visit to Rocky Top on Wednesday, VCU transfer forward Christian Fermin wasted no time making his decision as he announced his commitment to Tennessee, Rivals’ Joe Tipton reports.
Fermin appeared in only four games during his senior season, starting none, after taking a reported leave of absence to address a personal matter. The Tobyhanna (Pa.) native played in 90 games across four years with the Rams, starting 49, and averaged 4.0 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks in 17.5 minutes per game. As a junior, he posted 4.6 points and 3.1 rebounds per game on 54.4% shooting while adding 1.4 blocks and 0.6 assists in 19.4 minutes.
Listed at 6-foot-10, 225 pounds, Fermin becomes Tennessee’s eighth transfer addition this offseason. He joins Belmont guard Tyler Lundblade, Cal guard Dai Dai Ames, Loyola Chicago center Miles Rubin, Notre Dame forward Jalen Haralson, VCU guard Terrence Hill Jr., who spent two seasons with Fermin in Richmond, Kennesaw State forward Braedan Lue, and Wake Forest guard Juke Harris as Rick Barnes and his staff have completely overhauled the roster in Rocky Top in just two short months.
