Vol Baseball bolstered their 2026 pitching staff in a big way on Wednesday with the addition of veteran left-handed pitcher Evan Blanco, who announced his intention to transfer to Tennessee from the University of Virginia.

Blanco, a 6-foot, 205-pound southpaw from Woburn, Massachusetts has one year of eligibility remaining and brings a good deal of experience to Knoxville.

Last season in Charlottesville, Blanco struggled mightily compared to his breakout sophomore campaign for the Cavaliers.

In 14 appearances during an injury-riddled 2025 season, Blanco posted a 6.23 ERA over 39 innings, allowing 58 hits and striking out 36.

As a sophomore in 2024, Blanco emerged as one of Virginia’s most dependable arms, posting a 3.62 ERA with 99 strikeouts over 99.1 innings pitched, helping guide the Cavaliers to a College World Series appearance.
