Former undrafted free agent and Tennessee Vol Shy Tuttle is returning to the Volunteer State on a one-year deal with the Titans following his release from the Carolina Panthers earlier Tuesday, as first reported by Adam Schefter.

The 29-year-old Tuttle was released after two years in Carolina, starting 32 games over that time.

The decision occurred just two years after Tuttle signed a three-year, $19.5 million deal with the Panthers, making his return to Tennessee a pleasant surprise.

Signed as an undrafted free agent by the Saints in 2019, Tuttle has forged a six-year NFL career thus far with 232 tackles, 4.5 sacks, and 10 TFLs across 95 games played.

In 35 games at UT, Tuttle posted 79 tackles and a sack over four seasons, anchoring the Vols’ interior throughout his time in Knoxville.

Once again in the Volunteer State, Tuttle joins a Titans defensive front led by Pro Bowler Jeffrey Simmons, Sebastian Joseph-Day, and second-year playmaker T’Vondre Sweat.

With defensive tackle James Lynch also in the mix, Tennessee’s interior rotation quickly features depth and experience– something the unit was devoid of last season.
