Tennessee’s Nate Ament Earns SEC Freshman Of The Week Honors

Two games into his college career, Nate Ament is already getting honors for his play.

The true freshman forward out of Manassas, Virginia was named SEC Freshman of the Week on Monday afternoon, the conference announced.

Ament averaged 20.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1 steal across his first two collegiate outings, shooting 52.2% from the field, 37.5% from three, and 82.4% at the line.

In his debut against Mercer, Ament posted 18 points and nine rebounds in Tennessee’s 76-61 win. 

He followed that with an impressive performance against Northern Kentucky, posting 23 points, eight rebounds, five assists, and two steals in a 95-56 blowout.

Ament’s early production has helped fuel Tennessee’s 2-0 start.

The Vols return to action Wednesday night against North Florida at Thompson-Boling Arena. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. ET on SEC Network+.
