“He’s Family to Me,” Josh Elander Talks Hire of Florida’s Chuck Jeroloman

Head Coach Josh Elander after Fall Ball World Series 2025

After a wild off season with the history-making departure of Tony Vitello to the San Francisco Giants, former Associate Head Coach Josh Elander stepped up as the Head skipper of this group. With that, Elander brought in Florida’s Associate Head Coach Chuck Jeroloman to complete the coaching staff.

Despite never coaching together, the pair has tons of history. Jeroloman’s first coaching job out of college was in 2012 as a volunteer coach for the TCU Horned Frogs. The starting catcher of that group was none other than Josh Elander. To further the Tennessee connection, Tony Vitello also served on that same coaching staff.

“He's family to me,” Elander said. “We've been in touch at least once a week for the last, I mean, 10, 15, years now.”

Elander explained the importance of trust in this hire,

“The comfort level of looking out there and knowing somebody I've got history with, I can trust and is really, really good at his job, it's a very comforting feeling after some chaos the last few weeks.”

A lot of his coaching techniques from Jeroloman saying that their “verbiage” and style are consistent. He’s confident that the two will be able to lead the offense with cohesion.

“He's just got a tremendous feel where he's not going to come in and try to put a stamp on everything right away,” Elander said.

Jeroloman approached the Fall Ball World Series like a scout to get familiar with the team and take notes. He’s already getting to work and Elander has full confidence in what he can do for this team.

“He's going to make our program better in so many ways.”
