Tennessee Lands Commitment From In-State Three‑Star RB Asa Barnes

Exactly one week after landing five‑star Baylor School running back David Gabriel Georges, Tennessee added its second in‑state running back to the 2027 class as three‑star Asa Barnes committed to the Vols over Kentucky, Arkansas and USC, announcing his decision on the Rivals YouTube channel.
Barnes, a native of Martin who stars at powerhouse Westview High School, is ranked as the No. 551 prospect nationally and a top‑25 player in the state of Tennessee, per the 247Sports Composite.
Listed at 5‑foot‑11 and 200 pounds, Barnes delivered a massive junior season in 2025. He helped lead Westview to a 14‑0 record and the Class 3A state championship, rushing 146 times for 1,208 yards (8.3 YPC) and 25 touchdowns. He also added 27 receptions for 567 yards and 6 touchdowns, earning Region 7‑3A Offensive MVP honors.
