KNOXVILLE – With two roster spots still open for the 2026-27 season, Rick Barnes and Co. hosted VCU transfer center Christian Fermin for an on-campus visit Wednesday, as first reported by RockyTopInsider’s Ryan Schumpert.
Fermin appeared in only four games during his senior campaign, starting none, after taking a reported leave of absence to address a personal matter. The Tobyhanna (Pa.) native played in 90 games across four years with the Rams, starting 49, and averaged 4.0 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks in 17.5 minutes per game. As a junior, he posted 4.6 points and 3.1 rebounds per game on 54.4% shooting while adding 1.4 blocks and 0.6 assists in 19.4 minutes.
Listed at 6-foot-10, 225 pounds, Fermin would become Tennessee’s eighth transfer addition this offseason if he were to join the Vols. The current class includes Belmont guard Tyler Lundblade, Cal guard Dai Dai Ames, Loyola Chicago center Miles Rubin, Notre Dame forward Jalen Haralson, VCU guard Terrence Hill Jr., who spent two seasons with Fermin in Richmond, Kennesaw State forward Braedan Lue, and Wake Forest guard Juke Harris.
