CBS must be feeling really dumb not sticking with the SEC.

Saturday’s showdown between Tennessee and Georgia dominated the national airwaves.

The game peaked at 15.9 million viewers, making it the fourth most-watched college football broadcast on ABC in the past decade, ESPN announced.

The company also announced the game averaged 12.6 million viewers, marking it ABC’s highest-rated 3:30 p.m ET regular season game since 2006.

The matchup delivered everything besides a Volunteer win.

A top-15 showdown, an energetic Neyland Stadium checkerboard crowd and explosive plays– including Chris Brazzell’s 72-yard touchdown in the first quarter.

Despite the heartcrushing loss, Tennessee’s presence in a dominant national broadcast reaffirmed the program’s relevance on the biggest (regular season) stage.

The SEC’s move to ESPN is already showing big returns, and the Vols are a huge reason why.

Tennessee hosts UAB this Saturday at 12:45 p.m. ET on SEC Network.

Safe to say it won’t hit 16 million viewers.
