Rick Barnes’ Christian Faith Is A Big Reason Nate Ament Came To Tennessee

Tennessee Basketball season is right around the corner and Rick Barnes’ boys have been getting after it in practice this summer.

Five-star freshman phenom Nate Ament spoke with the local media on Wednesday.

He detailed some of his reasoning for coming to Tennessee while speaking quite highly of Barnes and the coaching staff.

Ament said the main reason he decided to come to Tennessee was because of his initial contact with Barnes and the other coaches.

He seemed to be fond of Barnes’ personality and his ability to joke around.

But more than that — he and the Vols’ head coach share something important in common:

“Me and him both kind of share our Christian faith,” Ament said. “That goes along with at Tennessee, the ‘it’s not about me’ mentality. He’s always trying to serve others and think about ways that he can help other people.

“We have a great relationship. Having him around the building is a breath of fresh air.”

Sounds like Ament has a good head on his shoulders. It’s going to be a lot of fun watching him play this year.
