LEXINGTON – It’s postseason time for Tennessee!
The No. 5 seeded Lady Vols open SEC Tournament play Wednesday evening as they face No. 13 seed Ole Miss at John Cropp Stadium in Lexington. Tennessee enters at 42-9 overall and 16-8 in SEC play, while Ole Miss advanced out of the opening round with a 2-0 win over No. 12 seed South Carolina behind a complete game shutout from senior right hander Emilee Boyer, who struck out 6 Gamecocks across 7 innings.
Tennessee is coming off a 3-1 week that included a road series win at Missouri, a result that helped the Lady Vols climb from No. 11 to No. 6 in the latest Softball America rankings. The matchup also gives the Lady Vols a chance at revenge as Ole Miss upset Tennessee in Knoxville a little over a month ago, taking two of three at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium while holding the Lady Vols to 6 total runs across the series. It remains the last conference series loss Tennessee suffered, winning their next four to close out the regular season.
First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m. ET on SEC Network as the Lady Vols look to advance and set up a date Thursday with No. 4 seed Texas.
