Left-Hander Cam Appenzeller Returning to Tennessee for Sophomore Season

KNOXVILLE – Tennessee left-hander Cam Appenzeller will return to Knoxville for his sophomore season, Mike Wilson of VolQuest reports.

A native of Chatham (Ill.), Appenzeller appeared in 20 games for the Vols this season, starting 2, and posted a 6-1 record with a 4.76 ERA. The freshman struck out 64 batters in 56.2 innings pitched.

Appenzeller earned SEC Freshman of the Week honors the week of April 13 after a dominant relief outing on the road at Mississippi State, throwing 5 innings and allowing 3 hits and 2 earned runs while striking out a career high 8 in a 6-5 win.

Appenzeller is the first Volunteer to publicly announce his return for the 2027 season.
