Lady Vols Volleyball Takes No. 4 seed in SEC Tournament

Lady Vols Volleyball closed out the regular season with a 3-1 win over Oklahoma on Senior Night. Seniors Hayden Kubik and Starr Williams combined for a total of 39 kills to match the entire Sooners’ kill total. That represents how the first two sets went: total domination. The Lady Vols outscored the Sooners in the first two by more than 10 points each set. But in the third, Oklahoma found its rhythm to force a fourth. Tennessee came back with aggression, winning that set 25-19.

Senior Klaudia Pawlik had an impactful game at the net leading the team with 9 blocks. The Poland native said she had “extra motivation” with her parents coming overseas to be there for her senior night. Pawlik spent five years with the University of Tennessee, including a redshirt her freshman year. She spoke on the impact that this program has had on her.

“Every single person here gave something that just changed my life,” Pawlik said. I never thought I would come here when I was younger. Like I never even dreamed of it,” Pawlik said.

Coach Watt talked about the journey that she’s seen from Senior Hayden Kubik.

“When I gave her a hug, I just said I’m so proud of you because you know it hasn’t been easy,” Watt said. “Her road Hasn’t been easy. And so as a coach you just feel really good watching a player like that shine in their final season.”

With the win, the Lady Vols earned the No. 4 seed in the SEC Tournament which allows them a bye through the first two rounds. They will head to Savannah, GA to compete on November 23rd.
