That was quick.
Lady Vols head coach Kim Caldwell wasted no time filling the vacancy on her staff, moving quickly to hire Florida State associate head coach Bill Ferrara on Monday after parting ways with Gabe Lazo following two seasons, Austin Price of VolQuest reported. Ferrara arrives in Knoxville with a strong offensive résumé and four years of ACC experience, giving Caldwell an immediate boost as she continues shaping her rebuilt staff at Tennessee.
Ferrara spent the past four seasons at Florida State, helping guide the Seminoles to three NCAA Tournament appearances. His most impressive work came during his third year in Tallahassee, when Florida State produced the nation’s top‑scoring offense at 86.9 points per game and featured the country’s leading scorer in Ta’Niya Latson, who averaged 25.9 points.
Tennessee will look to Ferrara to help elevate an offense that struggled with consistency throughout last season. The Lady Vols’ scoring issues were on full display in their 76-61 first‑round NCAA Tournament loss to NC State, as Tennessee finished the season on a 8-game losing streak.
With Ferrara now set to join the staff, Tennessee turns its attention to rebuilding the roster as several Lady Vols have entered the transfer portal as Kim Caldwell prepares for her third season in Knoxville.
