Should Josh Heupel be in the College Football Hall of Fame?

The question is asked in regard to his playing ability, of course. He’s not a Hall of Fame coach.

At least not yet ;)

But maybe Heupel should be considered for the Hall of Fame as a player.

He’s on the 2026 ballot, the National Football Foundation announced Monday.

And he appears on the ballot alongside VFLs Deon Grant and Larry Seivers.

Heupel was a consensus first-team All-American in 2000 as the quarterback of the Oklahoma Sooners.

He led OU to a national championship that year and was the runner-up for the Heisman Trophy.

Along the way, he tore up the Oklahoma record books.

This is not the first time that Heupel has been listed as a candidate for the Hall, and though he hasn’t made it yet, perhaps this will be his year.

The announcement for the ‘26 class will be made early next year.

Heupel, Grant, and Seivers are among 79 FBS players on the ballot.
