KNOXVILLE – Josh Heupel and the Vols are staying red hot on the recruiting trail. After a stretch that saw four-star linebacker Kenneth Simon II flip from Alabama, four-star offensive tackle Q’Mari Hudson join the class, and in-state athlete Dayon “DayDay” Cooper commit earlier this month, Tennessee has added another blue chip defender to its 2027 cycle.

Four-star safety Marcus Jones committed to the Vols on Friday, choosing Tennessee over Ole Miss, North Carolina and Michigan, per Rivals’ Hayes Fawcett. Jones officially visited Tennessee the weekend of June 12, then traveled to Michigan this past weekend before announcing his pledge.

The Haverford (Pa.) native is ranked No. 264 nationally and a top-10 player in the state according to the 247Sports Composite. Listed at 6-foot-3 and 190 pounds, he helped lead The Haverford School to an 8-4 record during his junior season.

Jones becomes Tennessee’s 16th commitment in the 2027 cycle and the fifth defensive back in the class, joining safety Jaden Butler and cornerbacks Slim Leavell, Dylan Haley and Carter Jamison.
