KNOXVILLE – After nearly two weeks without facing an SEC opponent, No. 8 Tennessee softball returns to league play this weekend as the Lady Vols host No. 2 Alabama for a three game series beginning Saturday at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium. Tennessee enters the matchup at 38‑7 overall and 12‑6 in SEC play, while the Crimson Tide arrive at 43‑4 and 15‑3 in the conference.

Tennessee’s last SEC action came back on April 11, when the Lady Vols swept Kentucky in Lexington and allowed only 3 total runs across the entire weekend. Alabama, meanwhile, also faced Kentucky in its most recent conference series and delivered a similar result, sweeping the Wildcats while giving up just 4 runs.

All eyes are on the SEC standings heading into this weekend. Tennessee sits tied for fifth in the SEC with Texas at 12‑6, while Alabama is tied with Oklahoma for first place at 15‑3. With the regular season winding down, the Lady Vols have a chance to strengthen their postseason résumé and potentially secure a top 8 national seed with a series win over the Tide.

The series opens Saturday at 4 p.m. Eastern on SEC Network +, with games continuing Sunday and Monday in Knoxville.
