KNOXVILLE – Florida International infielder Mario Trivella has committed to Tennessee, On3’s Pete Nakos first reported Thursday. Trivella, a native of Caracas, Venezuela, was phenomenal during his lone season in Miami.
The Panthers’ starting shortstop in 2026, Trivella hit .287 with a .384 OBP while appearing in 52 games. He posted a .964 OPS, launched 15 home runs to lead the team and drove in 50 runs on 52 hits across 181 at‑bats, striking out 58 times.
Trivella began his career at the State College of Florida, where he spent two seasons before transferring to FIU. He now becomes the sixth position player to commit to Tennessee out of the transfer portal, joining Mercer two-way Braydon Kersey, Air Force infielder Wyatt Hanoian, Baylor infielder Travis Sanders, Wright State outfielder Andrew Duncan and Cal Baptist star shortstop Chris Ramirez.
