The University of Tennessee put out a press release Friday morning detailing some big changes coming at Neyland Stadium.
First, the big news — beginning this fall, Neyland will become a cashless venue.
And that’s not just Neyland. All UT athletics facilities will become cashless. That’s sure to upset some folks who deal in straight cash, homie.
You can read more about that here if you want those details.
But I’m much more interested in the fact that Neyland is getting some general concessions updates.
Fans around the stadium will now be able to purchase several new items — including buffalo chicken mac and cheese, curly fries, ice cream, rotating “chef specials,” and something called “Knoxville flavored” chicken tenders.
What the hell is Knoxville flavor? Do they taste like the Tennessee River? Are there shavings from the side of the Sunsphere or something?
Anyway, big news.
Perhaps the biggest news, food-wise, though is the addition to TEXAS ROADHOUSE outside of Gate 9 (which has been doubled in size).
TEXAS ROADHOUSE. A truly elite American restaurant. Michelin star-rated, some would say.
Other south end zone updates included larger, new restrooms and a “significantly” wider concourse, per the release.
We’ve also got some updated sideline signage, updated chairbacks, new windows in the press box, etc. etc.
Read all about it in the release.
