Braylon Staley is Your 2025 SEC Freshman of the Year

Tennessee wide receiver Braylon Staley has been named 2025 SEC Freshman of the Year, the conference announced Wednesday.

The redshirt freshman from Aiken, South Carolina, delivered a defining season for the Volunteers.

Staley ranked sixth in the SEC with 806 receiving yards and averaged 67.2 yards per game, also sixth best in the league.

Among SEC freshmen, he tied for the lead with six receiving touchdowns.

Staley’s breakout moment came in Knoxville against Arkansas, when he hauled in six receptions for 109 yards. Five of those catches went for 105 yards in an explosive first half, earning him SEC Freshman of the Week honors.

For Tennessee, Staley’s emergence provided a spark to the offense and showcased the program’s ability to develop young talent.
