He got hit by a car!
You gotta be shittin’ me, man.
114 years old and this is how he goes out?
This guy survived two world wars, I’m sure tons of sickness from living in India, the death of his son (more on that later), 9/11, COVID, you name it.
And at the end of the day a Volvo got him.
IDK if it was a Volvo, but it was a car, as reported here by ESPN.
Poor old fella was just trying to cross the road and became the victim of a hit-and-run that caused severe head injuries.
RIP to the legend, Fauja Singh — an Indian-born runner nicknamed “the Turbaned Torpedo.”
He was believed to be the world’s oldest marathon runner.
Singh achieved fame in his later years by being really old and still running marathons. In fact, he ran one in 2011 at the age of 100.
What’s your excuse?
Singh had a British passport that showed his date of birth as April 1, 1911.
Imagine that. This guy was alive when the Titanic sank.
He was over 30 YEARS OLD during WORLD WAR TWO.
He was over 50 YEARS OLD when The Beatles — and more importantly The Stones — first came to America.
He was 90 YEARS OLD on 9/11. Some of you reading this weren’t even born yet on 9/11 and this guy was already older than most of us will ever be.
Another interesting fact about Singh is that he watched one of his sons, Kuldip, get decapitated by a giant piece of metal right before his very eyes during a storm.
That’s sad, to be sure. But it inspired his love of running.
114. A hell of a run it was. Pun intended.
