This is not the news Volunteer fans wanted to hear on the eve of a critical matchup against Georgia.
Tennessee freshman right tackle David Sanders is expected to miss his third consecutive game due to a lingering shoulder issue, Pete Nakos and Chris Low of On3 Sports report.
Sanders, a former five-star recruit and early enrollee out of Charlotte, North Carolina, was unavailable in UT’s first two games against Syracuse and East Tennessee State.
With Sanders sidelined, the Vols will lean on redshirt freshman Jesse Perry to fill the void at right tackle.
In his first career start at right tackle, Perry played all 68 offensive snaps against Syracuse and didn’t allow a sack. He followed that up with a dominant performance against ETSU, leading the offensive line with a 91.0 PFF grade while logging 56 snaps and helping Tennessee amass over 700 yards of total offense.
Nakos and Chris Low also report that defensive lineman Jaxson Moi is still questionable and pushing to play against Georgia, but will be a game-time decision.
Kickoff against No. 6 Georgia is set for 3:30 p.m ET at Neyland Stadium.
