KNOXVILLE – Tennessee freshman guard Troy Henderson is entering the transfer portal after one season in Knoxville, he announced Monday. Henderson appeared in 28 games during his lone season on Rocky Top, averaging 1.8 points on 32.1% shooting along with 1.0 assists in 6.9 minutes per game.

The Richmond (VA) native originally committed to Richmond in high school before de‑committing and flipping to Tennessee, enrolling with the Vols in September. The 6‑foot‑1, 186‑pounder played sparingly as a freshman, with his best outing coming in December when he scored a career‑high nine points against Gardner‑Webb, knocking down 3 of 5 attempts from beyond the arc.

With limited minutes available in Tennessee’s backcourt, Henderson’s decision to explore the portal comes as no surprise. A return to Richmond is expected to be a strong possibility for the Virginia native.
