Alontae Taylor is back in the Volunteer state.
Former Tennessee cornerback, Manchester native, and VFL standout Alontae Taylor has agreed to a three‑year, $60 million contract with the Tennessee Titans, giving new GM Mike Borgonzi another high-end playmaker in the secondary.
Taylor spent his first four NFL seasons with the New Orleans Saints, emerging as one of the league’s most active and disruptive corners. In 64 games, he piled up 293 total tackles, four interceptions, and an eye‑popping 52 passes defended that made him a priority target on the open market.
Taylor starred at Coffee County Central High School before signing with Tennessee. Originally recruited as a wide receiver, he transitioned to corner as a freshman and never looked back. Across 45 games and 31 starts, Taylor recorded 162 tackles, 19 pass breakups, and four interceptions, earning a reputation as the Vols’ most reliable defensive backs before being drafted No. 49 overall to the Saints in the second round.
For the Titans, Taylor’s signing is part of a massive early‑free‑agency overhaul. Tennessee entered the week with the third‑most cap space in the league, and Borgonzi has wasted no time reshaping the roster. Along with Taylor, the Titans have added Wan’Dale Robinson (4 years, $78 million), John Franklin‑Myers (3 years, $63 million), Cor’Dale Flott (3 years, $45 million), Daniel Bellinger (3 years, $24 million), and quarterback Mitchell Trubisky on a two‑year deal.
For Taylor, he now becomes a centerpiece of Tennessee’s defensive rebuild as a homegrown talent returning to Nashville with a major contract and a chance to be the Titans top defensive back for the next few seasons.
