True freshman linebacker Brenden Anes is planning to enter the portal, he told Rivals’ Hayes Fawcett.

Anes, a product of Page High School in Franklin, Tenn., was ranked No. 573 nationally in the class of 2025 and considered a top-20 player in the state.

The young linebacker saw limited action in his debut season, appearing in three games for the Vols.

He recorded one tackle in Tennessee’s win over UAB, added another against Alabama on the road, and posted a career-high three tackles in the Vols’ 42-9 victory over New Mexico State.

With four years of eligibility remaining, Anes enters the portal as a developmental prospect who could provide depth or upside for another program.
