KNOXVILLE – It did not appear to be a major concern when Tennessee edge rusher Chaz Coleman missed the back end of spring practice. Now, the Penn State transfer has yet to report to Knoxville for voluntary summer workouts that began earlier this week, according to a report from Pete Nakos of On3.

Coleman, ranked as the No. 9 overall player in the Rivals Industry Transfer Portal rankings, followed former Penn State defensive coordinator Jim Knowles to Rocky Top this offseason. The sophomore finished last year with 8 total tackles, 3 tackles for loss, and a strip sack.

“Chaz has been dealing with some things, and we are here to support him,” Josh Heupel told On3 on Wednesday at the SEC spring meetings. “We will continue to go through that process.”

Tennessee opens the season on September 5 against Furman at 3:30 p.m. ET at Neyland Stadium, with the Vols hoping to have Coleman available and running through the T.
