Probably the greatest thing that Roger Goodell could ever do?

For years, college football fans have had the struggle of keeping up with the frenzy of Saturdays.

It’s a marathon of flipping channels every five minutes, scrambling for score updates, or if you’re like me, setting up three TVs in the living room to create your own College Football RedZone.

Roger Goodell (surprisingly), might have fixed all our problems.

During a Wednesday appearance on SportsCenter, Goodell discussed the future of NFL RedZone following ESPN’s takeover of NFL Network and other media assets.

Thank God the NFL commissioner assured fans that the NFL RedZone product would remain unchanged, but that wasn’t the biggest news.

Goodell casually mentioned that since ESPN now owns the RedZone name, it could be used for other sports.

Which includes, yes, college football.

“ESPN purchased the RedZone name, and they will be able to utilize that for other sports, college football and other things,” Goodell stated. “I think that could be an exciting thing for our fans to see a RedZone, maybe in college football or other sports.”

The idea is a no-brainer for fans. With dozens of games airing simultaneously on Saturdays, a RedZone-style broadcast could offer continuous scoring action for viewers who struggle to keep up.

For now, it’s just a tease. But if Goodell’s comments are any indication, Saturdays could soon get a whole lot more exciting for college football diehards.
